Canada, the country where truth has come to die.

Listening to discussions on our economy, immigration, trade, or any other number of political issues, one feels that there is no right and wrong answer anymore, that the truth or a lie is never uttered, only variations on perceived opinion. Politicians of all parties routinely make statements which ignore facts, or they just outright lie. No one tells them they are lying, to do so would seem to be out of bounds, unacceptably bad behaviour. Anyone who disagrees with them or wishes to tell the truth on whatever the topic may be must do so without stating or even inferring that the original statement one is responding to was a lie. The response being offered is just an alternate opinion. Not the truth in opposition to a lie but an alternate opinion. This practice leads to anyone listening to the conversation very confused as to who may be correct and who may be in error, what the facts are.

When these rules of engagement dictate the type of discussion held around the table at Thanksgiving it is understandable. No one wants to upset Aunt Elsie or Uncle George over politics or religion. We are all there to have a good time and enjoy each others company. When our political leaders behave in this manner, it is a very serious issue. Our lives and our future prosperity depend on knowing the truth and acting on it. The Liberal Government has tabled legislation which will allow the government to jail anyone government bureaucrats decide has acted in a hateful or harmful way, or may do so in the future. The Liberal Government has told the Premier of Alberta she has to negotiate a deal with the Premier of British Columbia herself in order to build a pipeline from Alberta to the west coast, even though our constitution clearly defines the role of interprovincial access to market as the responsibility of the Federal Government. It is the federal governments’ job to impose a pipeline solution to move Alberta oil to tide water on the west coast. That is very clear. Yet the Federal Minister makes a statement to the contrary and no one in the media or other members of the government, including the Prime Minister corrects him.

There are numerous examples of similar behaviour where the facts are denied and no one holds the liar responsible. Perhaps the most egregious aspect of this behaviour is that so many people act in this way with no remorse or shame, they can smile while they lie and walk away pleased with themselves. It is not just politics where this occurs. All facets of our culture operate this way. In discussions about transgender issues, no one gives a platform to those people who decided to transition and now regret it. The truth of how Co-vid vaccines where neither safe nor effective is not something our Sask Party Government wishes to discuss. There is an enormous amount of scientific data which shows this to be true, from studies done all over the world, yet our government is still in favour of more of this medical maltreatment. No Covid vaccine manufacturer ever advised their vaccines should not be administered to pregnant women, nor has Health Canada ever made that recommendation. Yet our Provincial Public Health Officer has and continues to do so. No one seems able to correct this medical maltreatment. Does the truth not matter?

The reason we are talking about the truth having no place in the public discourse of events is that we have to be aware of how things are and work to change them. Over the next year there will be a significant movement for both Alberta and Saskatchewan to explore the option of sovereignty. Recent developments have shown this to be an inevitable, inescapable reality for those of us living in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Liberal Government has shown over the time Mark Carney has been Prime Minister they have not changed any policies from the Trudeau Liberal era and are intent on maintaining the status quo as it pertains to policies enacted to suppress public opposition to their policies, Western Canada’s economic development, and all cultural beliefs which do not agree with their WOKE agenda. These are facts, are the truth and are not opinion.

The decline of telling the truth in our culture has occurred over many years, and will take time to reverse. We must do what we can in communicating to our leaders we want them to tell us the truth, not a convenient comfortable lie. We need to do this now so our children and grandchildren can grow up in a society where telling a lie is not acceptable, that telling the truth is expected. Like an old man planting a tree, he may never enjoy its shade, or its fruit. But the sooner he plants it and the more work he does to encourage its healthy growth, the sooner his descendants can enjoy the fruits of his labour. I do not want my descendants to have to live in a Canada where the truth is an option, I do not want to pass on a country where truth came to die.
